This win has placed them comfortably in second place, just one point behind Manchester City. A victory in this fixture could see them claim the top spot, at least temporarily. The evidence suggests they can achieve this, having started the season with five wins and two draws from their seven league games. Two of those victories came against the two promoted sides along with Luton: Sheffield United and Burnley. As a result, Ange Postecoglou’s men should be fairly confident of securing a win here.

Luton sits just above the relegation zone in 17th place, thanks to their superior goal difference over 18th-placed Burnley. They have gone nine games in all competitions without keeping a clean sheet this season, and a fresh defensive injury to Amari’i Bell provides no reassurance.
