Manchester City vs. Manchester United (Home Win)

On Saturday afternoon, treble-chasing Manchester City and bitter rivals and EFL Cup winners Manchester United will square off for the first time under the renowned arch of Wembley Stadium in the 142nd FA Cup final.

The Citizens are going for an unprecedented seventh win of England’s oldest trophy, while the Red Devils are going for an unprecedented 13 wins.

In the 2014-15 season, Manchester City will attempt to become the first English team to win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League since Manchester United in the 1998–99 season, four years after they won the first domestic quadruple in English football.

The Citizens have already won one trophy this season, as Pep Guardiola’s squad finished the Premier League season five points ahead of Arsenal and won the league for the third year in a row and the fifth time in six seasons.

Last Sunday, in their final league match of the season, a heavily rotated City side lost 1-0 at Brentford, snapping their remarkable 25-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

But Guardiola has sensibly regulated the minutes of his first-team stars over the previous two weeks, and he hopes they have accepted his advice and temporarily ‘disconnected’ from the rigors of their rigorous schedule to be at their best for Saturday’s massive clash with their bitter rivals.

Having won their last four Premier League games to secure third place and Champions League football for next season, despite finishing 14 points behind champions Man City, Man United enter their 21st FA Cup final in a buoyant mood.

United won 2-1 against Fulham on the season’s final day, following a 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea at Old Trafford the previous Sunday. Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes scored the game’s final two goals to overturn a Kenny Tete opener.

After beating Everton, Reading, West Ham United, Fulham, and Brighton with respective scores of 3-1, 2-1, 1-0, and 0-0 after 120 minutes of regulation and overtime, respectively, Man United is playing in the FA Cup final for the first time in five years.

RB Leipzig vs. Eintracht Frankfurt (Home Win)

On Saturday at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, defending champions RB Leipzig will take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal final.

Conversely, if Frankfurt wins, they will tie Werder Bremen with six German domestic cup titles and move into a tie for second place all-time in the competition, behind only Bayern Munich.

After falling behind early, Leipzig rallied to win the final on penalties against Freiburg, who had Marcel Halstenberg sent off late in the match. Leipzig won their first major title in club history.

By winning 5-1 at Europa-Park Stadion in the semi-finals, Die Roten Bullen secured their place in the final for the third year in a row. This time they did it by defeating Christian Streich’s team.

Frankfurt, led by Oliver Glasner, won the Europa League in his first season as manager and will be gunning for a second major trophy in as many years if they can prevent the DFB-Pokal holders from maintaining their crown.

Die Adler, who became the first team in club history to play in the Champions League after beating Rangers on penalties last May, secured their return to European competition with an injury-time winner from Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe against Freiburg on the final day of the season.
