AIK Fotboll vs BK Hacken

AIK will attempt to win what will only be their second home win of the season when they host high-flying BK Hacken at the Friends Arena on Saturday. The hosts currently sit third from the bottom with just 10 points in the bag, and they will be hoping for a boost here to start their ascent up the table.

AIK would not have expected to find themselves in their precarious situation, having finished in a respectable fifth position last season. The 12-time league champions hold the record for the most seasons completed in the Swedish top flight and won the league as recently as 2018.

But they have picked up just 6 points from a possible 18 in their six home games this season. A major contributory factor to this has been their lack of goals. They have only scored 11 goals in their 13 games this season, and despite recent wins over Norrkoping and Brommapojkarna, Andreas Brannstrom has since departed, and former Manchester United defender Henning Berg has been appointed as his replacement.

Hacken will be looking to avoid being undone by the much-touted new manager’s bounce when they roll up to the Friend’s Arena. They are currently in third place on 29 points, and they are seeking to close the gap on top spot with a victory here. Per-Mathias Hogmo’s side will be confident traveling to Stockholm as only three other teams have picked up more points this season.

Hacken boasts the best attack in the league, with 36 goals scored in their 14 matches. They have the League’s top scorer with 12 goals, Benie Traore, in their ranks. Two others have 5 goals apiece, so they are a team with goals all over the pitch. Despite AIK’s win in their last match, they are on a terrible run of form, and it will be too soon for their new manager to change things. However, considering that both teams played out a draw the last time they met, we will go with the away team to win or draw.

Viking FK vs FK Haugesund

Viking FK hopes to break into the top three of the Norwegian Eliteserien when they play host to FK Haugesund on Saturday. They currently sit just one point behind third place, having climbed to fourth with three consecutive wins.

As it becomes more apparent that Bodo/Glimt are running away with the league title, the second spot has become the price for teams behind them. Viking are one of these teams, and they will be confident of strengthening their case against their lower-placed visitors. They come into this game on the back of a last-gasp 2-1 win away at Valeranga where Niklas Sanberg popped up with a winner deep into injury time.

The Dark Blues are having a much stronger season than the last, where they finished in 11th place. After a good start that saw them claim four wins in their first 7 matches, they suffered a pair of setbacks, falling to 5-1 and 4-3 defeats to Bodo/Glimt and Molde, respectively. Those losses have not had a lasting effect on the team, as they have bounced back impressively to head into this weekend with three consecutive wins.

Haugesund arrive hoping to pull off some sort of upset, and they are on a strong run of their own, having recently pulled clear of the bottom three. The visitors started badly with only one win in their opening eight outings, out of which they lost four. They have turned the tide in recent weeks with two wins on the bounce against Stromsgodset and Sandejford.

The home win against Sandejford saw them going 3-0 up inside twenty minutes, only to eventually end up holding out for a 3-2 win. Their defensive frailties, coupled with the fact that only 3 teams have scored fewer goals than them this season, is why we think they will fall short here. Viking are on a good run, and they should get the needed win against a Haugesund side that have only 1 away win all season.
